Adding Connection Explorer to a form

Now that you've installed Connection Explorer, all you need to do is add a reference to a form to start visualising connections between entities. Connection Explorer is a PCF control, which means any custom field can be formatted as a section that displays connections. For example:

Step 1.

Add a field/column to bind the Connection Explorer control to. In this example, we’re adding a new field to a contact by selecting Tables>Contact.

Step 2.

In the table editor, go to New>Column, which allows you to add a new name and metadata to the new column you’re binding to.

In this instance, we’re calling it Connection Explorer, but you can give it any name you like. Click ‘Save’ and wait for the new field to be generated.

Step 3.

Next, add the field to a Form. In this case, the field is added to the main Contact form.

Go to Form Editor and click “+Component” in the navigation bar. Add a tab under Layout column.

Click the Connection Explorer tab from the form previewer and click ‘New Section’. This allows you to add fields and components to your section.

Step 5.

Click the ‘+ Form Field’ button and type ‘connection’ in the search bar to filter the options to the newly-created field.

To add the highlighted field to the form section, click the button.

You may want to consider, ‘Show component on’ setting per your organisations requirements. Save and publish your changes.

You’re all set! Go to a contact record and click on your newly-created Connection Explorer tab and start comparing your connections.
